A fire broke out today in Addu City Hulhumeedhoo Mathikilhi Eco Garden's wetland.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that the incident was reported at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Hulhumeedhoo Fire Station begun efforts to extinguish the blaze, MNDF said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire remains unclear, although wetlands in the southern region have experienced similar incidents in the past.
Mathikilhi Eco Garden, part of a large wetland area is also a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
