The Permanent Representative of Maldives to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ambassador Ahmed Sareer has presented his Letter of Credence to Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, in an official ceremony held Tuesday at the OIC Headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Sareer conveyed greetings from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and expressed the Maldives' commitment to promoting the values and principles of the OIC as stipulated in its Charter. The Ambassador further expressed appreciation to the Secretary General for his commendable role in uniting the OIC member states on issues central to the Islamic Ummah. He further reaffirmed that the Maldives remains steadfast in its unwavering commitment to work closely with OIC and its member states in support of the Palestinian cause.
Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha welcomed the Ambassador to his new role and reiterated the OIC’s commitment to strengthen the cooperation with the Maldives and working towards the betterment of Muslim communities.
Ambassador Ahmed Sareer was accompanied by Ms Rahumathullah Waheed, Second Secretary of the Consulate of the Maldives in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an international organisation comprising of 57 member states. The Maldives joined the OIC in 1976 and has since been an active member in the organisation.
