Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Kadevaarehaa has been removed from the jurisdiction of Gaafu Dhaalu Hoadedhoo for the development of integrated tourism.
The President's Office today said that, in line with the presidential pledge, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to remove the uninhabited island of Kadevaarehaa from the jurisdiction of Hoadedhoo to develop it for integrated tourism, thus changing Hoadedhoo's jurisdiction.
President Muizzu made this decision through a decree issued under powers granted to the president under the Decentralization Act. The president's decree was published in the Government Gazette today.
A map showing the change to Hoadedhoo's jurisdiction is included in the decree.
The government has planned various projects to promote tourism in the Maldives. Previously, uninhabited islands have also been included in the jurisdiction of inhabited islands for economic and social purposes.
