Bank of Maldives today opened the doors of its tenth Self-Service Banking Centre at the premises of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Kan’baaAisaa Rani Higun, Male’. The Centre will operate 24- hours a day and houses 3 state-of-the-art multi-functional ATMs which allow customers to deposit and withdraw cash, make payments and transfer money.
The Centre was officially opened by Chief Guest, Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Mohamed Saeed and its ATMs became the first in the country to dispense New “Ran Dhihafaheh” notes which are now available from all BML ATMs across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bank of Maldives CEO & Managing Director Andrew Healy said, “Self-Service Banking was introduced one year ago as a means of offering a convenient alternative to visiting branches for basic banking services.The fact that we have seen close to 2 million transactions during that period indicates that people like the service and I feel sure those using the Centre here at IGMH will find it a convenient and fast way to do their banking.”
Andrew continued “I am particularly pleased that from today, those using all BML ATM Centres can deposit both old and new currency notes. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate MMA on the launch of Ran Dhihafaheh and we look forward to supporting all our customers on the transition to the new note series”.
With a nationwide network of 27 branches, 75 ATMs, 3,100 POS merchants, 177 cash agents, 10 Self-Service Banking Centres and 5 Dhoni Banking Units, BML’s investment and presence far exceeds that of all other banks combined. During 2015, the Bank completed the rollout of a program to provide basic cash services to all inhabited islands. In December, BML launched a major investment strategy for Hulhumale’, including a MVR 1 billion housing fund. It also announced a MVR 500 million Green Fund to encourage investment in renewable energy.
