President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Saturday inaugurated a project to expand national identity card and passport services to all atolls by the end of November next year.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the President's Office on Saturday.
The scope of this project has been increased to include all of Male' City, as well as L. Atoll and Dh. Atoll.
Additionally, passport services were launched on Saturday in Hulhumale' Phase I, Hulhumale’ Phase II, Villimale', Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, and L. Fonadhoo.
Saturday’s ceremony saw the presentation of a roadmap outlining how ID and passport services will be expanded to all atolls. By 2025, these services will be established in designated areas across each city and atoll.
February 2025 - HDh. Makunudhoo
March 2025 - GDh. Thinadhoo, GDh. Gahdhoo
April 2025 - S. Hithadhoo, S. Hulhumeedhoo, and Gn. Fuvahmulah
May 2025 - HA. Dhidhoo, HA. Ihavandhoo, R. Ungoofaaru and R. Alifushi
June 2025 - L. Fonadhoo, Sh. Funadhoo and Sh. Milandhoo
July 2025 - N. Velidhoo and Th. Veymandoo
August 2025 - ADh. Mahibadhoo and B. Dharavandhoo
September 2025 - Lh. Naifaru and F.Nilandhoo
October 2025 - M.Muli, AA. Rasdhoo
November 2025 -V. Felidhoo, K.Thulhusdhoo, K.Guraidhoo
Having ID card printing service available from the capital or an island of each atoll was one of President Muizzu’s electoral pledges.
