The Maldives National University (MNU) has successfully passed the mid-cycle review for its International Quality Accreditation (IQA) by the United Kingdom-based Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).
The QAA is an independent body responsible for safeguarding and enhancing the quality and standards of higher education institutions.
Speaking at a press conference held at MNU, Vice Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam said maintaining quality remains the university’s top priority across teaching, learning and research.
“For teaching, learning and research across all fields, the biggest priority at MNU is quality assurance. The accreditation received from QAA, as outlined in MNU’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030, supports our efforts to strengthen quality improvements and develop individuals who contribute meaningfully to national progress,” she said.
Dr Shehenaz added that the university aims to equip students with skills, values and competencies beyond academic achievement, in line with its long-term vision.
The IQA accreditation is valid for a period of five years. Following the successful mid-cycle review, MNU’s accreditation has now been extended until October 2028. The university has recorded significant progress since first receiving the accreditation in 2023.
MNU said it will continue efforts to maintain international accreditation standards, deliver quality education and strengthen its position both locally and globally.
