Husnee Mubarik elected president of JSC

Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarik has been elected president of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), following the resignation of Maafushi MP Hussain Riza Adam from both the presidency and membership of the commission.
The decision was made at a JSC meeting held Wednesday, where members voted to appoint Husnee as the new chair. His nomination was submitted Monday, and received 58 votes in favor during the same session.
Riza resigned last Friday without publicly stating a reason. His departure came shortly after High Court Judge Mohamed Niyaz, who served as Vice-President of the JSC, also stepped down. Niyaz’s resignation was followed by the appointment of Yazmeed Mohamed, who now represents the President on the commission.
Husnee, a trained lawyer, previously chaired the Judiciary Committee of Parliament. He resigned from that role upon joining the JSC, prompting the election of a new committee chair.
