Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced its support to the Maldives Deaf Association to develop a sign language dictionary.
This is part of the work the Association is undertaking to empower and promote the rights of the deaf community in Maldives, and to commemorate the International Day of Sign Languages. International Day of Sign Language is commemorated on September 23 each year.
Additionally BML also held sign language training sessions for staffs in partnership with Maldives Deaf Association. BML said the session was held to ensure inclusive and accessible services are provided for customers with disabilities.
Previously, in 2020, the Bank also held sign language training session for staff in partnership with Maldives Deaf Association. The Association was formed in 2008.
