DQP to file case against airport development charge

The party said GMR had failed to develop Ibrahim Nasir International Airport as agreed with the government but is planning to charge customers a fee on the pretext of airport development. The fee also violates the Airport Service Charge Act, the party added. DQP Vice President Imad Solih had already submitted a separate civil case arguing the illegitimacy of the charge, requesting the court take action against Finance Ministry. Civil Court will soon deliver a verdict in the case. GMR tried to include the fee in the airline tickets but failed after the International Air Transport Association (IATA) refused to provide the specialised code to include the charge. The company decided to collect the fee at the check-in counters commencing January.
