Civil society fair, 'Havali' kicks off

A civil society fair, revolving around promoting the work of local Non-Governmental Organizations has kicked off on Saturday.
The fair was inaugurated by the Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail, who stated that the local civil society plays an important role and the current government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will put in its best efforts to empower them.
Started on 16 March, the fair exhibiting the work of local NGOs and provides a platform to raise funds and increase memberships, will proceed till 18th March.
One day of the fair, an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been allocated for persons representing significant enterprises. The next two days will be allocated for school, college and university students.
Over 100 associations are participating in the Havali Fair, to proceed from 1pm to 6pm and 8pm to 11:30 pm for the three days.
Training programs and networking sessions as well as keynote sessions will take place at the fair.
Communication Director at the Home Ministry, Hafsee Abdulla revealed that many NGOs from a lot of islands are taking part and the initiation has received immense praise.
As pledged in the government’s 100-day-agenda, the fair aims to provide networking space for the civil society and to engage with business donors as well as providing a platform for them to raise funds.
