Member of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram said that the allegations made against the Commission regarding the September election are not true and that this year had the least number of invalid votes.
Speaking to Miadhu News, Akram said that the invalid votes in this year’s election was around 3000 and in previous elections there were around 6000 invalid votes. He said that no unlawful activity took place regarding the election and that there is nothing the EC can do to alter the results of the election.
“Because of how the electoral process is, even if the chair of the EC is a leader of a political party, there is nothing that person can do to alter the results. The 5 members of the commission went near the ballot boxes just to vote. Everything was done by the election officials and it was done in front of observers. Then what can we do to alter the results” said Akram.
