Criminal Court sentenced the convicted grandfather and great grandfather in the rape case of a 2-year-old toddler in GA. Kanduhulhudhoo in 2020.
The two men convicted in the case were victim’s 62-year grandfather Ibrahim Didi and 82-year great grandfather Hassan Moosa Didi.
The case was reported by the child’s family and they were charged with “incestuous sexual act against a child” on February 13, 2020.  With the remand duration deduced from the sentence, the convicted will serve 22 years and 10 days.
In addition, the victim’s parents were charged with “failure to report sexual offence against a child despite being aware of the offences” and “failure to prevent the offences despite being aware of its wrongness”.
The victim’s parent’s case was at Kanduhulhudhoo court but the case is not processed or sentenced by the court.
