Bank of Maldives (BML) Community Fund has supported the establishment of a community library in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll Fiyoaree.
The library, which was developed as part of the the island’s children’s park, was developed by the Fiyoaree Association for Community Empowerment (FACE).
The library was developed to motivate the people of Fiyoaree to read books, strengthen their relationship with each other and spend time with their families outdoors.
Suruhan Mohamed, Vice President of FACE commented on the project stating that the island did not have an outdoor space dedicated for families. He further said their hope is that the space will not only be useful but will make a real difference to Fiyoaree’s community.
The Community Fund, which was launched by BML to fund sustainable projects by organizations in the islands, has so far provided financial assistance to a large number of NGOs.
