President Muizzu named among Time’s 100 most influential figures in the global healthcare industry

Time’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World’s Healthcare Industry includes President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Time magazine has named President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu among the 100 most influential figures in global healthcare.
The list, released by Time, is the third annual compilation recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the world’s health sector.
President Muizzu was included for his administration’s policies to protect public health in the Maldives, particularly efforts to curb tobacco use.
Key measures highlighted by Time include the increase in cigarette duty and the ban on the import, sale and use of vapes. The magazine also noted the historic legal amendment that raised the minimum age for purchasing tobacco products to 21 and prohibited the sale and consumption of tobacco for those born after 2007.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously presented President Muizzu with a special award for his work in tobacco control.
This recognition marks a significant step forward for the Maldives’ health policies on the international stage.
