NSPA spent MVR 17.7 million on therapy in October, most recipients under 18

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) spent MVR 17.7 million on therapeutic services for persons with disabilities in October, with the vast majority of recipients being children under the age of 18.
According to figures released Tuesday, behavior therapy accounted for the highest expenditure at MVR 4.4 million, followed by occupational therapy at MVR 4.2 million. Speech therapy ranked third, with MVR 3.9 million spent on services for 283 individuals.
Other therapy-related expenditures included:
Educational therapy: MVR 2.5 million  
Early intervention: MVR 2.1 million  
Psychotherapy: Over MVR 100,000  
Physiotherapy: MVR 226,236 (lowest among categories)
In total, 532 individuals received therapeutic support last month. Of these, 512 were children under 18, while 20 were aged between 18 and 62.
NSPA also reported that 14,832 individuals are currently registered in the national disability registry, reflecting the scale of ongoing support needs.
