Addu shop broken into; two milk powder cans stolen

Maldives Police Service is investigating a break-in at a shop in Addu City’s Hulhudhoo district, where two milk powder cans were stolen.
In a message to the media, the Police said the shop was broken into by forcing the door open.
CCTV footage of the theft, which is currently circulating on social media, shows that the theft took place at approximately 2:49am on early Friday morning. The case was reported to the Police at approximately 7:17am.
According to the Police, items stolen from the shop include two 1,800 gram milk powder cans, a chocolate and MVR 150 in coins.
The case is under investigation by the Police.
The CCTV camera installed outside the shop shows the thief, who has covered their face, coming up to the shop in a relaxed walk and trying to force open its door after scouting around for bystanders.
Another CCTV camera installed near the cash counter shows the thief inside the shop, stealing the milk powder cans and exiting the shop.
There have been previous cases where thieves found guilty of stealing small items such as Rihaakuru (Maldivian fish paste) bottles have received jail time.
