Ahmed Mahloof leaves PPM and joins Qasim Ibrahim’s Jumhooree Party

Amid the MDP and JP collaborated anti-government campaign for upholding constitution، comes the news of PPM party member، South Galolhu constituency member of the Parliament Ahmed Mahloof signing up for millionaire Qasim Ibrahim’s Jumhooree Party.
Parliament member Ahmed Mahloof signed on to Jumhooree party sometime last night.
Speaking to Vaguthu، a source close to Mahloof tells that the member himself had given confirmation regarding his transition from PPM to JP.
However an no further details have been disclosed regarding Mahloof’s change to JP، as both him and Jumhooree Party has not stepped forward with any information on the matter.
Previously in different forums and discussion panels، Mahloof had constantly maintained his statement of following PPM leader Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s decision. He had gone to assert he will change his political party to any party for which Maumoon Abdul Gayoom signs up، following questions raised upon the subject.
He had also stressed that he will not transition to another political party as long as Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has not done so in prior.
Meanwhile former President Mohamed Nasheed and JP leader Qasim Ibrahim have both initiated the MDP-JP allied anti-government campaign، claiming to thwart the majority held by ruling PPM and Co. from them.
Nasheed had given interview to an Indian newspaper today stating that by next month PPM will lose Parliament’s majority seating.
It is not a huge blow to PPM with regards to the member capacity of the party، as two JP members، Kanditheemu constituency parliament member Mohamed Hussain and Madaveli constituency member Muaz Mohamed Rasheed had signed to PPM.
News is speculating high regarding reasons behind Mahloof’s decision to sign on to JP may have been further provoked by his close affiliation to JP as he is wedded to Nazra Naseem، sister of Faisal Naseem، Kaashidhoo constituency member، who also belongs to Jumhooree Party.
