Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer has stated that air travel standards are benched against world standards and that the sector is under careful monitoring of the Civil Aviation Authority.
Minister Zameer is currently overseeing the administration of the Authority.
The Government had focused on securing state of the art resources for the sector, as well as training the sector employees to international standards.
One of the key issues facing the sector two years ago, was the state of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA). The recurring issues have been fixed to the maximum extent possible.
The construction of the second runway of the airport is scheduled to begin next year, with a state of art terminal to be created around the same time.
