President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that his aim was to ensure that the youth of the nation were established in all areas of their lives.
He made the statement speaking in a meeting held with many youth last night in Alimas Carnival area.
President Yameen said that many of the motorcycles used by youth are presently stored in the tow yard for various reasons and that the fine amount for the vehicles are staggering. He said that he would seek out a solution for the issue from within the Parliament. He added that a Parliament bill would be passed to nullify the fine amount and the motorcycles would be returned to their respective owners.
President also pledged to solve the prevalent issue of drugs among youth and called on youth not to engage in drugs. He also called on all not engage in violent activities and to reject any such offer.
President Yameen said that there were many who had encouraged youth to engage in violent and criminal activities. However, he said that those who had encourage the criminal activities in the end abandon those youth who had engaged in the actions at their behest.
President Yameen added that even though those youth had not voted for him he would seek to resolve those issues.
He added that he wished to see that all youth are responsible, well-mannered and employed. President Yameen pledged that he would dedicate his term to ensure that youth are given a secure future.
