Maldives is committed to assist Pakistan on all beneficial spheres of engagement bilaterally, provincially and on the international arena, states Vice President Faisal Naseem.
VP Naseem made the statement at a reception held on Saturday to mark the 79th anniversary of Pakistan Day, annually celebrated every 23 March.
Expressing the government’s appreciation for Pakistan’s role in the socio-economic development of the Maldives, VP Naseem reassured that the Maldives will continue its cooperation with the government of Pakistan, in all areas.
Both countries will continue to work together to ensure the prosperity, safety and stability of South Asia and the Indian Ocean region while further strengthening the regional cooperation in South Asia, the Maldives Vice President re-assured.
Reaffirming the Maldives commitment to enhance the longstanding culture of cooperation between Maldives and Pakistan to ensure a better living quality for citizens of both countries, VP Naseem had emphasized on the formal diplomatic ties that have bonded two countries for over 50 years.
During the event, VP Naseem also emphasized that the bonds shared between both countries stems from their shared faith in Islam, mutual respect and understanding as well as the common culture shared between the people.
Pakistan Day remembers the passing of Lahore Resolution on 23 March 1940 that eventually led to the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan on 23 March 1956.
