Foreign Secretary of the Republic of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar departed Maldives this afternoon after concluding his official visit to the Maldives.
During this visit, Foreign Secretary Jaishankar paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Minister Asim.
Foreign Secretary Jaishankar also held consultations with his counterpart,
Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
This visit paved the way to take the historically close ties of friendship between the Maldives and India to even greater heights in the future.
The Maldives established diplomatic relations with India on 1 November 1965. This year, will mark 52 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Maldives has close friendly relations with India and pursue an India First Policy. India has always assisted Maldives during the challenging times and has always been a reliable and trusted friend to the Maldives.
