According to Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam, it is not feasible to construct as many housing units as the islanders’ demands in the local islands.
He said this in response to a query posed by MP Ahmed Zahir of the Gahdhoo Constituency at today’s Majlis Sitting, questioning about the housing units supposed to be built in Gahdhoo.
Aslam stated that the former housing minister had a list of how many housing units needed to be built on the nearby islands, but he claimed that it would be impossible to build that many units.
Even if there is a list of the amount of housing units that have been designated, Aslam has argued that there is no sustainable manner for the government to construct these units, and  has said that it cannot be accomplished so quickly.
