Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has announced a targeted reduction in fares on its Kuala Lumpur route, introducing a limited-time promotional offer aimed at reinforcing its role as the preferred carrier between the two countries.
Under the terms of the offer, tickets to the Malaysian capital will begin at USD 112. The fare applies exclusively to flights scheduled for 21 and 28 December, both of which will be operated using Airbus aircraft.
The pricing initiative forms part of a broader strategy to elevate service standards and expand regional market share. In its announcement, the airline reaffirmed its commitment to becoming the carrier of choice for passengers travelling between the Maldives and Malaysia.
While the move is expected to enhance commercial competitiveness, Maldivian underscored its wider national significance. The airline described the fare reduction as a meaningful contribution to the country’s economic development, citing its potential to stimulate growth in the Maldives’ tourism sector.
Officials anticipate that the offer will encourage increased tourist arrivals from Malaysia and provide greater convenience for travellers undertaking business, leisure, or personal journeys across the route.
Supporting this expansion is Maldivian’s operational fleet of 25 aircraft, configured to serve both domestic and international routes. The fleet includes one wide-body Airbus A330, one narrow-body Airbus A320, five ATR aircraft, eight Dash 8 aircraft, and eleven Twin Otter (Dash 6) aircraft.
