The harbours at the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal and in front of the former Nasandhura Palace Hotel; now "Barcelona Nasandhura Malé" will be opened to all speed ferry operators, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced today.
A senior MTCC official said the decision was made under a directive from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to improve convenience for those travelling to Male' from other islands.
Operators wishing to use these terminals must submit their applications before March 10. Applications can be sent via email to [email protected], and further information is available by calling 7978865.
The official noted that MTCC ferries already operate from these harbours, and the decision allows other speed ferry operators to register and use them as well for more convenience.
"MTCC ferries already approach the two harbours, so we have now opened the opportunity for interested parties to register through a system. Once registered, the speed ferry can dock at these terminals," he said.
Passengers arriving in Male' from the islands have faced significant difficulties, including long waits under the sun while disembarking.
