Less than 100,000 visitors left to hit one million arrivals mark

Tourist arrivals to the Maldives have neared one million, less than halfway into the year.
The daily arrivals update released by the Tourism Ministry shows the island destination welcomed 912,109 visitors to its sandy shores by Saturday.
This leaves less than 100,000 visitors until the Maldives hits the one million arrivals mark.
The statistic show the Maldives has welcomed 68,753 visitors more this year than the same period last year.
China remains the top source market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives, with over 105,000 arrivals – making for 11.5 percent of the total market share.

UK: 93,853 visitors (10.3 percent)
Italy: 79,737 visitors (8.7 percent)
Germany: 70,011 visitors (7.7 percent)

France: 33,345 visitors (3.7 percent)
USA: 28,656 visitors (3.1 percent)
Switzerland: 21,328 visitors (2.3 percent)
Australia: 16,443 visitors (1.8 percent)
The Maldives had welcomed a record two million tourist arrivals last year. The island destination, which won the award for the World Travel Awards (WTA) World's Leading Destination for the fifth consecutive year in 2024, expects to raise tourist arrivals to 2.2 million this year.
