A expat man arrested for illegally possessing and dealing in liquor has been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation.
Police identified the suspect as Shofigul Islam, who was arrested during a joint operation by Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement on Wednesday.
The 44 year old was searched and taken into custody, after which police also searched his residence.
Authorities found 16 bottles of liquor in his possession.
While the case remains under investigation, police confirmed that he has been handed over to Immigration for deportation.
