President Solih returns after state visit to Sri Lanka

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih returned to Maldives on Tuesday night after concluding his state visit to Sri Lanka.
President Solih travelled to the neighboring country to attend Sri Lanka’s Independence Day celebration as a guest of honour.
The Maldives President and First Lady was officially welcomed on February 3 at a special event at the presidential secretariat, where they were greeted by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and First Lady Jayanthi Pushpa Kumari.
Afterwards, the Sri Lankan president hosted a state luncheon in President Solih’s honour.
During their official talks, both presidents reiterated their support and vowed to further develop the decades-long relationship between both countries.
During the trip, President Solih and his delegation met the Maldivian residents living in Sri Lanka and also attended a forum with leading Sri Lankan businessmen to discuss the opportunities in Maldives.
Former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid a courtesy call on President Solih before he returned to Maldives.
