While the new academic year kicked-off on 11th of this month، the biggest relief for Hulhumale’ residents come in the form of the newly opened government school under Ministry of Education wing.
Due to the scarcity of space for students in Hulhumale’ Gazi School، government had opened a second school in Hulhumale’ by the name Rehendhi School، which is by far one of the biggest and most accommodating public school in Maldives. It is therefore a positive achievement in the development of Hulhumale’.
While the academic year has started، operational works in Rehendhi School has started as well.
“We had opened the school yesterday، but it was an orientation program for the students rather than studying، classes started today” Deputy Principal of Rehendhi، Nazim Abdulla stated.

Currently a total of 1004 students are enrolled in Rehendhi School، which consists of 42 classrooms including laboratories. As per Deputy Principal، the school currently holds 104 staffs، with only a few vacancies that are yet to be filled.
Furthermore، he also stated that only a few maintenance work remains concerned with the building but it is now capable of accommodating students without any issues.
“Work related to students are 80% to 95% complete، and students will not face any difficulties، and their studies will not be intervened by any issues” Nazim said.
Nazim asserted that once the entire work on the premises concludes، the school will house a computer lab along with 3 laboratories related to science subjects، with the added internet availability from the campus.
Rehendhi school currently has two sessions، morning session which starts off at 06:45hrs till 12:40hrs and afternoon session starts at 13:00hrs and ends at 17:45hrs.
