Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has said that former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom will meet with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa during a private visit to Sri Lanka.
Gayoom, accompanied by wife Nasreena Ibrahim, departed to Sri Lanka for a vacation following the Parliamentary Election.
The office of the former president said that Gayoom will participate as chief guest in a function on the occasion of the New Year in Sri Lanka on 26 April.
Speaking to reporters prior to his departure today, Gayoom said that the next PPM Congress will be held in July 2014.
