Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has returned to the Maldives upon conclusion of his state visit to Oman, during which he presented a letter from President Abdulla Yameen to Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi.
Speaking to reporters at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), Gayoom said that discussions were held regarding increasing Omani investment in the Maldives, and that a proposal in this regard was presented to Omani officials.
“Discussions were held regarding increasing trade relations between the two countries. An Omani team will visit Maldives soon,” Gayoom said.
