Maldivian Democratic Party has postponed its 13-year anniversary celebrations on Friday to prepare for their party congress.
MDP Vice President Mohamed Shifaz told RaajjeMV said they have postponed the anniversary activities scheduled for Friday at their campaign office but vowed to hold a colorful celebration at a later date.
Instead of the anniversary celebration at the campaign office on Friday, MDP set up tables to register guests for their third party congress to be held in AA. Ukulhas on Saturday.
Guests from Alif Alif atoll and Alif Dhaalu atoll are to be registered in Ukulhas and MDP began registering guests from other atolls on Friday at their campaign office.
MDP is set to approve crucial decisions and make changes to their regulations at their ‘extra-ordinary’ congress. While there are 83 days left until the presidential election, MDP has vowed that it will approve decisions that their ordinary members will be happy with.
MDP held its first two congresses at conference hall Dharubaaruge in 2005 and 2010. This is the first congress being held outside of the capital city, after the party claimed that the government has refused to provide them a venue in Male’.
