Police have launched a probe into a case of school violence where a student was violently beaten by a group of other students.
Maldives Police Service stated that the violence case, which took place in Thaajuddeen School in capital Male, was reported on Wednesday. They did not provide further details as the investigation is ongoing.
Mihaaru understands that the victim is a male student of Grade 8 who beaten by around 12 students of Grade 9. According to sources, a student of the Grade 9 group had been struck on the chin by a cricket ball thrown by the victim, sparking the assault.
The victim has been hospitalised in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). The state of his injuries remain unclear. Thaajudeen School has so far refused to comment on the incident.
