Transport Ministry’s online services disrupted by server overheating

Transport Ministry’s online services have been disrupted by its server overheating.
The Ministry, via a post on x on Tuesday, said it was undertaking efforts to restore online services that have temporarily come to a halt due a technical issue.
An official from the Ministry told Sun that the Ministry’s online services were disrupted due to its server overheating, noting the problem had come to light this morning. The official added that efforts are currently underway to resolve this at the earliest.
Notably, Transport Ministry recently announced it had contracted a Maldivian company to develop a digital portal featuring all of its services.
In this regard, Transport Minister Ameen told Sun that the Ministry lacked a functioning IT department when he took charge of the office, which is why the portal’s development has been outsourced.
The Minister further criticized the previous portal developed during the former administration, and noted it lacked adequate security measures and can be easily accessed by anyone.
He expressed optimism that the portal’s development would be finished within six months.
