Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has expressed his vision for Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu to develop as a modern digital platform while maintaining its culturally rooted programming.
Speaking on Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu’s Baajjaveri Hendhuneh programme, broadcast today to mark the station’s 63rd anniversary, the Vice President underscored the importance of continuing to grow and remain relevant in the digital era, without compromising the station’s core identity.
He emphasised that radio must continue to deliver content that resonates with the current generation while remaining a trusted and credible platform. He highlighted radio's vital role in disseminating national news and information and noted that it serves as an important medium in guiding society in a constructive direction. He further expressed his aspiration to see radio evolve into a fully accessible and deeply integrated platform for all citizens.
Highlighting the role of Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu in nation-building and sustaining social stability, the Vice President stated that the station’s continued broadcasts merit recognition. He also encouraged the public, particularly young people, to use the information disseminated through radio responsibly.
The Vice President and his spouse, Aishath Afreen Mohamed – who accompanied him during the programme – expressed their appreciation for the station’s service in delivering news and information as a national public broadcaster. They also acknowledged the contributions of past and present leadership, as well as the organisation’s staff, in fostering a cohesive and healthy society in the Maldives.
During the programme, the Vice President and his spouse shared personal reflections. The Vice President also engaged in a conversation with his father, his teacher, and members of the public who took part in the broadcast.
