Home Minister Azleen Ahmed have said that Maldives Customs Service provides services in international standards.
Speaking at a ceremony held to celebrate world customs day, minister said that customs officers of Maldives gets invited as trainers in many trainings conducted by World Customs Organizations, and that shows how capable Maldivian Customs officers are.
Azleen said that there will be people who try to influence customs officers and customs officers should not be influenced by anyone. He said that even now there are some gates that are not screened properly and that should be solved. He said that action should be taken against anyone no matter who that person is.
He said that while we celebrate the achievements of our friends, if a friend commits a crime, we should take note of that too. He said that even if a close friend is committing a crime, we should intervene and stop it. He further said that the customs is working on to improve their capacity such that they will be able to scan containers of all sizes
