Parliament has provided its seal of approval to all appointees to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s Cabinet.
Solih’s Cabinet has 20 members; which includes the Attorney General and 19 Cabinet ministers.
The Parliament called the name of each appointee for vote separately in this Tuesday’s sitting which was attended by 73 parliamentarians.
Those who won the approval with the unanimous consensus of 72 parliamentarians who took part in the voting:
Attorney General, Ibrahim Riffath
Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Zaha Waheed
Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Aminath Athifa Shakoor
Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof
Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail won the approval with the majority vote of 71 parliamentarians.
72 parliamentarians took part in the vote for Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali. 71 parliamentarians voted in favor of the appointment and one parliamentarian voted against the appointment.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid
Minister of Defense, Mariya Ahmed Didi
Minister of Finance, Ibrahim Ameer
Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure, Mohamed Aslam
Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan
Minister of Communication, Science and Technology, Mohamed Maleeh Jamal
Minister of Health, Abdulla Ameen
Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Ali
Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula
Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed won the approval with the unanimous consensus of 69 parliamentarians who took part in the voting. And Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Yumna Maumoon won approval with the unanimous consensus of 68 parliamentarians who took part in the voting.
69 parliamentarians took part in the vote on Minister of Home Affairs, Sheikh Imran Abdulla. 68 parliamentarians voted in favor of the appointment and one abstained.
70 parliamentarians took part in the vote on Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Shidhatha Shareef. 67 parliamentarians voted in favor of the appointment, two parliamentarians voted against the appointment, and one abstained.
