Former BML chairman running for Presidency on 2018

Former Bank Of Maldives Chairman Dr. Abdulla Shiham announces he will be running for Presidency on 2018’s elections.
According to Shiham، he will be coming out to the presidential race on 2018 as an individual candidate and he will not change or reconsider this decision.
He also focused on the reason on running for presidency stating his decision came due to failure of political entities and individuals. Shiham asserted that political parties have soiled the image and credibility of politicians، and also it is the prime reason for unhealthy rivalries and the loss of allies and his aim and priority will be to strengthen and unify the political grounds.
Shiham had become eligible on the Presidential race from the day he joined the government and it is unnecessary to discuss his decision with any political entities according to the man who has declared his name for presidential candidates for 2018.
“Decision of running for presidency came due to the nation’s current situation” he said.
Apart from being a former BML Chairman، he is a Ph.D holder in Law and attended International Islamic University of Malaysia. He completed his Masters degree in Corporate Law from the same university while he attained first degree in Law from an Australian university.
Shiham who specializes in Islamic banking and Islamic insurance، is one of the main hands behind the introduction of Islamic finance in Maldives during 2008 and 2010.
