It is not correct to connect the Ridwan’s case with IS- CP

Commissioner of Police Hussein Waheed has said that it is not correct to connect the case of the missing journalist from Minivannews with the Islamic State established in Iraq and Syria.
Commissioner of Police made this remark in reply to a question asked by Miadhu Daily regarding the claim of former President Mohamed Nasheed that a gang group connected to IS is behind the disappearance of the journalist Ridwan.
He said that it is not from the best interest of the state to make such a claim in such a time. He said that these accusations will bring more unhappiness to the family of Ridwan. He assured that the Maldives Police Service is still working on the case to find him.
According to former President Nasheed, the government had been unable to find Ridwan because the government is hijacked by a group linked to IS.
Home Ministry also denied the claims of Nasheed and stated that there is no influence of the Islamic State on the government. A top official of the ministry stated that if the government was hijacked by the Islamic State the first to be arrested will be former President Nasheed.
While Islamic State attacks those who attacks disbelievers and apostates, Nasheed’s remarks suggests that he believes that Ridwan is an Islamophobic writer.
