Kendhoo constituency MP Ali Hussein has said that the committees of the Peoples’ Majlis should review the bills submitted to them for review very responsibly.
Ali Hussein made this remark speaking regarding the review of the committee of the report on the exchange of prisoners. He said that the committee did not do a good job in reviewing the bill.
“This bill was sent to the national security committee for review. Not just to pass as it is as soon as they get it holding only one meeting with not much debates,” he said.
MP Ali Hussein said that reviewing includes reading all the documents surrounding a bill and researching on how the procedure is done in the developed countries. In addition to this he said that the implications of the bill also should be considered.
“Civil society should be engaged. Even if it is not necessarily the civil society, counsel and suggestions should be sought from the government,” he said.
Ali Hussein said that the only thing raised by the committee being limited to one issue shows that there is not much done by the committee for the review.
