Case against PO to be sent to PG over Raajje TV boycott
MMC established under the print media regulatory act, decided on the matter with votes in favour from all 11 members present at the meeting. The decision stated that the President’s Office had refused to cooperate with RaajjeTV in the same manner as other media stations despite repeated directives from MMC. It also stated that the decision was made under the authority enshrined under article 28 of the media council regulation. The article states that if an instruction is ignored or if anyone disrespects the council, it has the authority to forward such cases to the PG office to take legal action against them. The council further stated that it had decided to finalize the case report to be forwarded to the PG and send it before the end of official hours on Wednesday. The council also decided to hire an attorney to assist in compiling the report. The council had only decided to take action on the matter after holding discussions with both, the President’s Office and RaajjeTV to find an amicable solution to the issue.
