China firm begins Maldives main airport's runway resurfacing project

Resurfacing of the Maldives’ main airport’s runway commenced late Saturday. The project was awarded to China’s Sinohydro Corporation on July 9 last year, under which Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA)’s runway will be tarred and levelled, according to Maldives Airports Company (MACL). The company stated that tarring began from the southern end of the runway, estimating that a stretch of 80 to 120 metres will be completed daily.
