BML supports community picnic area at Kan’doodhoo beach

Bank of Maldives (BML), on Saturday, announced the establishment of a picnic area in Kandoodhoo, Thaa Atoll under the 'Aharenge Bank Community Fund'.
The community picnic was developed with huts, beach umbrellas, sitting areas, a traditional 'undhoalige' and spaces designed for cooking and barbecue activities.
Additionally, the picnic area has a designated exercise space and a fresh water well. A total of 30 coconut palms and trees were also planted in the area with garbage bins placed throughout the space as well.
"Our aim of developing the beach into a community picnic area is to foster familial relations, strengthen and build a socially connected society", stated Kandoo Sports Club, the winner of the Community Fund proposal.
"We further aim to develop the project to allow residents from neighboring islands to visit and enjoy the space as well. A huge thanks to the members of our club for their hard work and the support from the island council to successfully complete this project".
The Community Fund aims to empower individuals and local NGOs to contribute to their communities via sustainable projects. The bank has provided funding for projects in 30 islands across the country under this fund over the last year.
