Minister Dunya sends message to Japanese Foreign Minister on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Hiroshima & Nagasaki Bombing

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, H.E Ms. Dunya Maumoon has sent a message to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, His Excellency Mr. Fumio Kishida on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The Minister’s message reads as follows:
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I take this opportunity to extend the profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences of the Government and people of the Maldives to the victims of the bombing and their families and the Government and the people of Japan.
The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki represent the cruel and inhuman nature of nuclear weapons. As Japan marks this tragic occasion, on behalf of the Government of the Maldives I take this opportunity to reiterate the firm and unwavering commitment and resolve of the people of the Maldives to achieve a world free from nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
