Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed meets with the newly elected President to Sri Lanka and successor to Rajapaksa، Maithripala Sirisena.
The MDP leader met with Sri Lankan President today in morning.
According to a statement from an official of MDP، Former President Nasheed congratulated the success of Maithripala Sirisena in the recent presidential elections held in the country.
“Both leaders discussed and talked about the close relationship both nations have towards each other، and focused on the growth in strength of their ties during MDP-led government’s regime” said the MDP official.
Nasheed’s meeting with President Sirisena marks as the first، a Maldivian leader had personally met with the newly elected leader of the nation since the elections concluded.
Prior to his trip to Lanka، Mohamed Nasheed stressed on the similar belief and ideology both nations have towards human rights، independence of Maldives and development phases.
