Two minors charged with terrorism in Aseel murder case

The two minors suspected of being involved in the murder of Aseel Ahmed, Thaa Thimarafushi, have been charged with terrorism.
The Juvenile Court has confirmed that the state has charged two 16-year-olds with terrorism in relation to this case. The court also said that the second hearing of this trial would be held today, during which the defendants would present their defence statements in relation to the charges.
According to the state, the two minors have been charged with terrorism because they have been accused of going on motorcycles with a group of people to Agora Express on Dhidhi Goalhi at 8:45 p.m. on 23 August 2014, and attacking Aseel while he was outside the shop; and because Aseel died as a result of the injuries.
They are charged under Article 2 (a) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
In addition to the two minors, the state has also charged six people with terrorism in relation to this crime. They are Ahmed Nimshad, Ahmed Jaufar, Ismail Rifau, Ihsan Rasheed, Hassan Isam Mohamed, and Sharif Shareef. No hearing has been scheduled yet of the case against them, filed to Criminal Court.
