Ministry of Fisheries has initiated the process of forming advisory committees to manage five key types of fisheries under the Regulations on Planning and Management of Fisheries.
Committees are being established for tuna fisheries, grouper fisheries, marlin fisheries, sea cucumber fisheries, and reef fish fisheries, with applications now open for those interested in joining. Each committee's representatives will serve a five-year term.
Committee Positions:
- Tuna Fisheries: Representative involved in line fishing
- Grouper Fisheries: One representative from grouper fishing and one from the grouper export sector
- Marlin Fisheries: Three representatives from marlin fishing
- Reef Fisheries: Two representatives from reef fisheries, two from reef fish trade/export, and one relevant registered organization
- Sea Cucumber Fisheries: Two representatives from sea cucumber fishing and two from the sea cucumber export sector.
The committees will oversee the implementation of fishery management plans, provide annual reports, and advise on national, regional, and international fisheries policies.
Individuals holding elective office or political party positions are ineligible to serve on the committees. Selection criteria include experience in the field, and for registered associations, their contributions to the sector will be considered.
The deadline for submitting applications is before 12:00 noon on April 10.
