Bank of Maldives on Tuesday announced the integration of Visa and Mastercard payments for Raajje Transport Link (RTL) operated by Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC).
According to BML, passengers using the RTL Male’ City bus networks can now use any contactless Mastercard and Visa card including those issued by BML, for fare payments on the ticket validators. In addition to card payments, bus and ferry tickets are available to buy on the RTL Mobile App.
BML’s CEO Karl Stumke commented noting that more than 300,000 BML customers can use their debit or credit cards to make tap-and-go payments on RTL network. He further stated BML will continue to collaborate to introduce additional payment methods.
Commenting on this significant milestone, the CEO of MTCC, Adam Azim stated MTCC is grateful to BML and Mastercard for their support in integrating contactless payments into RTL service. He noted it is an essential step in making RTL service more easily accessible and convenient to the public.
