The police have detained a 41-year-old man on suspicion of involvement in a knife-point robbery in a store in Male’ City.
The man, accessed of robbery and intimidation, was presented before the Criminal Court on Wednesday for his remand hearing.
At the hearing, the investigative officer told the court that the man is suspected of going into a store and stealing money by threatening the shopkeeper with a knife.
The investigative officer also stressed the high risk of reoffending, citing a history of prior arrests in similar crimes.
Meanwhile, the suspect admitted to going into the store and stealing money, but denied using a knife in the commission of the crime.
The court found the evidence, which includes the victim’s statement and snapshots of CCTV footage, adequate to warrant the suspicion against him, and remanded him in custody of the police for 15 days.
