Sun has learned that half a kilo of drugs seized following the arrest of a youth were discovered from the SIFCO flat where the suspect resided.
The Police, on Wednesday, said they arrested a youth on Monday during an operation carried out based on a tip received to Counter Narcotics Intelligence. The operation was part of the broader nationwide counternarcotics campaign, Operation Alimagu.
The Police identified the suspect as Ibrahim Amr Thaufeeq, SIFCO Hiyaa 0801 B, Hulhumale'.
According to the Police, Amr was arrested on suspicion of possession, use and sale of drugs. Five hundred grams of substances suspected to be drugs linked to Amr were seized following his arrest.
Sun has learned that the drugs linked to Amr was discovered inside his residence, the SIFCO flat.
Amr has been remanded in custody for five days upon presentation before the court.
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
SIFCO flats is an apartment complex developed in Hulhumale’ for Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) soldiers and their families.
