The decision has been made to hold the trial for the case against former President Mohamed Nasheed for the illegal arrest of the Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed, at the Justice Building in Male’.
Spokesperson of the Department of Judicial Administration Latheefa Gasim informed that the trial will be held at the Court room on the ground floor of the Justice Building.
An official of Hulhumale’ Court said that a letter had been received by Nasheed, requesting that the processing of the case be expedited.
He said that efforts are under way to complete administrative and expert-related issues to be addressed prior to the commencement of the trial.
He assured that the trial will be conducted as openly as possible.
In addition to Nasheed, the Prosecutor General’s Office has pressed charges against former Defence Minister Thalhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, former Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and Colonel Mohamed Ziyad, in relation to the illegal arrest of an innocent person.
